Best one-day trip from Phnom Penh city

One day trip is thrilling and tiring at the same time but we sometime need a simple day trip to get away for a Sunday drive or just to visit a few new attractions. These are the best one-day trip’s destinations around Phnom Penh city. Let’s dive in.


1.     Kirirum National Park

 

Kirirum National Park is about 100 KM from the city of Phnom Penh. There is no bus at all to this national park, however, you can simply rent a dirt bike or a van to get yourself there and enjoy the day. This national park is covered with pine tree and evergreen forest, you will fall in love with it in the first sight. Within just one day, you can enjoy pretty much a number of things such as Waterfall, Visiting Death Fall or Cliff, visiting local village of Chombok, having a local lunch by the fall, swimming and trekking. That’s a lot for one day, so calm yourself down and enjoy it as much as you can.

 


2.     Ta Phrum Temple, Takeo

 

There are few significant attractions that you can visit in Takeo province include ancient temples, Zoo, and Local Shrines. The province is about 2 hours and a half drive by car from the city. Local people convincingly choose this province as their one-day trip with family and friends. You can join the cycling tour, which has supported vehicle, to enjoy your one-day trip there and notably you will step your feet into the ancient land of Cambodia. Talking about ancient land, you will likely to visit the temple of Ta Phrum ( Bati Commune), Chi So mountain, and Da Temple, in addition to visiting the Ta Mao Zoo and Put Kiri Temple, which has about 84,000 Buddha status.

 


3.     Koh Pen, Kompong Cham

 

By all means, Kompong Cham is actually the famous destination among the expat and the locals. It has a great reputation and known as a home of fried tarantula and other exotic delicious food. To Cambodian, stereotypically, Kompong Cham people are rich, fair brighter skins color, and good at running a business. One day trip to Kompong Cham is doable but we are pretty sure you want to stay longer, however, within one day, you might want to visit the top attractions such as Bamboo Bridge, Koh Pen, Phnom Bros & Phnom Srey Mountain, Wat Mohaleap and  Wat Hanchey.

 


4.     Prasat Sombo Prey Kuk, Kompong Thom

 

Sombo Prey Kuk one-day trip is undoubtedly made for the wildest mind only. Taking an early morning van from Phnom Penh city to Kompong Thom, which takes about 3 hours roughly to reach the provincial town. Probably 9 am in the morning, you can stop for a breakfast and pack lunch before continue your journey by tuk-tuk to the world heritage site, Sombo Prey Kuk temple. You continue about 45 mins to 1 hour depending on the skill of your driver, however, the slower the better since you may enjoy the ride along with the scenic view of the pass by villages. At the site, you need to purchase the entrance tickets and hire a local guide to talk you through these thousand years old temple complex. It is a huge temple complex, it can take you approximately 2 to 3 hours to see the temples. Thus, after that, you can eat your lunch, relax and heading back to the town, which later you can book a ticket back to Phnom Penh city.

 


5.     Kompot

 

Well, is it possible to visit Kompot on a one-day trip? The answer is yes you can. Kompot is relatively close to the Phnom Penh city, which is about 3 hours by van. As part of the trip, you do not want to visit a lot of attractions but focus on a few and get yourself a comfortable one- day getaway. Arriving there, first thing first, you can rent a scooter for 1 day and heading to your adventure at a local mountain caves, Phnom Kbal Rormeas, visiting Le Plantation, Mangrove Community before heading back to town for a fresh relaxing by the River Park, which is a local zip line resort. However, you might want to head all the way to Kep beach and enjoy a half day sunbathing before coming back to Phnom Penh the following evening bus or you fall in love and you continue to stay a night haha. Enjoy your trip either way.
