Top places to visit in Kratie Province
Speaking of Kratie province, all you can imagine is wide field of farming and Agri-Industrial plants such as rubber plant. etc. However, this province is also home of many attractions including cultural and natural attraction.
1.100 Columns Pagoda
This Buddhist temple is one of the significant landmark of Kratie province and have been recognized as one of the oldest Buddhist temple in the area. It is believed to be built as a dedication to the daughter of the King Chan Reachea II, who assumed allegedly killed by the crocodile. Besides, building this 100 columns temple, he also built the stupa next to this temple in 1529 for depositing his daughter ashes as well others relative, which later rebuilt by the former king Sihanoulk in 1956.
2.Phnom Sombok
Phnom Sombok is small hilly site which is located about 10 KM from the town of Kratie along the river bank of Mekong River. Phnom Sombo has been called before as “Phnom Sombo Meas”, which literally translate as mountain of gold in Khmer since there is story from mouth to mouth that it was once a raw mineral of gold. As today, Phnom Sombok is Buddhist temple and surrounding by vivid green tree and top of the hill you can have a good view of lake as well.
3.Kampi
Just about 5 km pass Phnom Sombok, there is a place called Kampi, it is locally famous as weekend getaway destination. You can enjoy swimming, sleeping while listening to the sound of the river flowing rapidly underneath you. Moreover, enjoying a fresh cooked river fish as well other local food is absolutely a must.
4.Irrawaddy Dophin Watching
Irrawaddy dolphin is one of the close to extinction specie and there is currently only about 30 to 50 of them in the Mekong river of Kratie province. This river dolphin has become a symbol of Kratie people, thus, watching them and admiring its existence in this province of Cambodia. The ticket is 9 $ per person which you can enjoy watching up to 1 hour.
5. Koh Trung
