Just outside of Battambang city, nestled among the rolling patchwork of rice fields, are small, traditional houses on stilts. Enormous pigs languidly loll by the road, and buffalo snooze beside round hay bales. Riding our bikes will bring us to see local ladies, or "Ming" (aunts), making rice paper discs used to wrap spring rolls. We will also visit Samrong Knong, where we will sample authentic Kralan (sticky rice, black beans, coconut milk, and a little salt cooked in a bamboo tube over charcoal). You can also experience rice wine, banana chips, and the daily life of the smiling people and interact with them from the roadside vendors.
