Thing to do that you cannot miss when visiting Battambang.

By Unseentra Sep 05, 2023 1119

Battambang is a city in northwestern Cambodia, about 3 hours from Siem Reap and 6 hours from Phnom Penh. It is known for its old French colonial buildings, local street art, and its status as the largest rice production province in Cambodia. If you are interested in learning more about Cambodian culture, art, food, and traditions, Battambang is a must-visit destination. Here are our top 5 recommendations for things to do in the city:

Visit Banon Temple

This temple is located about 20 kilometers (12 miles) outside of the city and is built on top of a mountain. The climb to the top is about 350 steps, but the views from the summit are worth it. You can see the surrounding rice fields and the well-preserved temple.

Visit Ek Phnom Temple

This temple is also worth a visit. It is a pre-Angkorian temple dedicated to Hinduism and is located about 9 kilometers (5.6 miles) from the city center. You can rent a bicycle and take a trip along the Sangke River to fully enjoy the visit.

Phnom Sompov and Bat Cave

This is a historical and natural site that you must visit during your stay in Battambang. The mountain is about 12 kilometers (7.5 miles) from the city and on top you can find various caves, religious sites, and incredible views of the countryside. In the afternoon, you can witness millions of bats flying out of the cave.

City Heritage Building and Religious Site

There are many colonial buildings and religious sites in Battambang that you can visit. Some of the highlights include Psar Nat Battambang (the central market), Wat Somrong Knong, Wat Domrey Sor, the Provincial Town Building, and the 100 Years Old House. Book tour with us.

Bamboo Train

After the Khmer Rouge regime, the people of Battambang used the old train tracks to transport food, rice, and other materials. Today, this has become a tourist attraction where you can enjoy an authentic experience while also taking in the views of the countryside. Book Tour with us.
